Color me mine! :)

Color me mine! Is a very awesome studio here in Pittsburgh where you can choose from a variety of ceramic stuff and color them with a whole range of colors in the studio's inventory.

So here is the first ceramic colored by me for my dearest hubby for our 4th anniversary :)
Yes the guy at the counter did tell me that there are different gifts for each year of marriage and pottery and ceramic come at the 9th year :P but I told him I've never followed that list ever and it's true! I hate going by the rule book to make anything. Creating has to be inspirational and not instructional :P

And so I colored away to glory this pretty little heart shaped box with more hearts and some flowers and a lot of love! :)

The pattern on the sides is my favorite because I used a very interesting technique for getting the leaves effect with the green color. I used a sponge and put just a little bit color each time on its corner and just sponged the color on bit by bit to make it look like this..

To give it a personal and lovey touch I colored the inside of the box with red color which is in heart shape again! :) and lastly I added my luv literally and my name ;)

I really had so much fun painting it! I'm definitely going to make something bigger and more artistic for my home next time...

A dash of color

I absolutely love colors! :)
And that is why I simply could not resist looking at the pretty things on display at the Pier 1 imports.
These cute little parrot salt shakers are so adorable that I had to rescue them from the crowd and bring them home into the limelight of my dining room :)

I also picked up a set of equally colorful coasters! :) yes, that's how much I love colors
. They make me happy. They make me come alive!

And if the colorful placemat in the picture isn't emphasizing my love for colors, I should show you the set of colorful candle cups and the colorful bird wall hangings that I got from my recent visit to India ;)

So those are some colors from my life for you! :)
Stay colorful, stay cheerful and in absolute chaos of happiness! It's all good it's all life! :)

Beginnings

Since I quit my job as an SAP consultant and jumped without a parachute into finding my passion in life..
I have had only vague sense of direction...and that just means that I moll know that I want to do something creative. I have been really enthusiastic about interior design all my life. But since I have no creative background the task of entering into an unknown territory with a little knowledge and just a whole lot of fervor seems too daunting.. Not to mention the unimaginable high costs. Which at this stage seem a little unreasonable investment thinking about the fact that we may be starting a family in couple of years...there is just so much to consider..phew!

So the above concerns led me to scrap the idea of pursuing interior design academically..eventually I started looking for courses in design like graphic design, interaction design etc. which also call in for a huge monetary investment but are fairly lucrative..these courses are very interesting as well.
However after looking up the eligibility for the courses at the desired university I realized that they need me to prepare a portfolio even though I'm not from a design background! Scary...

But talk about blessing in disguise..I started following artists online and learning to let my creative juices flow :) I started interacting with other artist online and somehow found the courage of sharing my unpolished work online!

And just while i was beginning to feel a sense of direction magical one day one of friends a year or 2 junior to me college mentioned to me about something really exciting that I immediately told him that I would love to be a part of! I was really excited when he said that I could help! :) and now slowly he is trying to get me involved in the activity which I thoroughly love and enjoy...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and with a lot of hope in my heart I'm making a new beginning! :)
